Policies
Full refund if cancelled 2 weeks in advance. 50% back if cancelled under 2 weeks. We are flexible with weather cancellations or emergencies.
Refund ProcessingIf your reservation qualifies for a refund, Dave’s Outboard Sarona will process it as soon as possible after the cancellation or rental adjustment is confirmed.Credit/debit card payments: Refunds are issued back to the original card used at booking. Please allow 5–10 business days for the refund to appear, depending on your bank or card provider.Cash or check payments: Approved refunds are typically issued by business check. Please allow up to 10 business days for processing.Partial refunds: If only part of your rental is refundable, the approved amount will be returned using the original payment method whenever possible.Please note that refund timing begins once the refund is approved and processed by our office. Processing times may be longer on holidays or during busy summer weekends.If you have questions about the status of a refund, please contact us with the name on the reservation
Weather PolicyYour safety comes first. Pontoon rentals may be delayed, shortened, or canceled if weather or lake conditions are unsafe. This includes severe thunderstorms, lightning, high winds, heavy fog, or other hazardous conditions on Long Lake.If Dave’s Outboard cancels before your rental begins: you may reschedule for another available date/time or receive a full refund.If weather causes a delay: we will do our best to adjust your start time or move your reservation to another available opening.If severe weather develops during your rental: please return to shore or follow any instructions from our staff right away. We will work with you on the best available option based on the situation.Please note: light rain, passing showers, or cloudy conditions do not usually qualify
Rental Experience
Please arrive 15–20 minutes before your scheduled rental time so we can get you checked in and out on the water on time.Park and come to the office/dock area When you arrive at Dave’s Outboard in Sarona, please have the primary renter check in with our staff first.Bring your ID and reservation information The person whose name is on the reservation should bring a valid photo ID. If there is any remaining balance or required paperwork, we’ll take care of that during check-in.Review and sign rental documents You’ll go over the rental agreement, safety information, and any required waivers before departure.Complete a safety briefing Our team will review important boating rules, local lake guidelines, life jacket information, and basic safe operation of the pontoon.Receive a pontoon orientation We’ll show you how to start and operate the boat, use the controls, check fuel and gauges
We recommend bringing: sunscreen, towels, cooler, and snacks. All required safety equipment is provided.
Requirements
Primary renter must be 21+. Boat operators must be 18+ with a valid photo ID. Children are welcome with an adult onboard.
Wisconsin law requires anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1989 to carry a valid boater safety certificate to operate a pontoon boat.
Damage & Liability
Damage PolicyTo protect our customers and our equipment, a refundable security deposit may be required for each pontoon rental and held on the credit card on file. The deposit amount and any authorization details will be reviewed with you at check-in. If the boat is returned on time and in the same condition it left, the deposit will be released after inspection. Please note that bank processing times may affect when funds become available.What is considered damage?Any damage beyond normal wear and tear, including dents, scrapes, tears, broken parts, missing equipment, or excessive cleaning needsDamage to the propeller, skeg, lower unit, or motor caused by striking bottom, rocks, docks, or other objectsDamage to seats, flooring, rails, canopy/Bimini top, ladder electronics, or safety equipmentLost anchors, ropes, life jackets, keys, or other supplied itemsDamage caused by misuse, negligent operation, intoxicated operation, or ignoring boating rules and posted lake markers<
